La Dra. Susana B Bravo She graduated in Organic Chemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1996. In 1997, she conducted studies on the determination of the stereochemistry of compounds by NMR in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the same university in order to obtain her undergraduate degree. In 1999, she joined the group of Dr. Clara Álvarez in the Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) to carry out her doctoral thesis. During her thesis, a primary culture model of thyroid neoplastic cells (BANTTIC) was established, which led to a patent. In 2003, she obtained a PhD in Chemistry with “cum laude” distinction and a doctoral award, and continued her research on thyroid pathophysiology using more advanced techniques such as proteomics.

Since 2013, she has served as head of the Proteomics Unit at the Santiago de Compostela Health Research Institute. Throughout her scientific career, she has received five research awards (including one from the Spanish Society and two from the Galician Society of Endocrinology) as well as the Sergio Vidal Award for the best biomedical research work.

In addition, she has delivered numerous hours of teaching, as well as training courses for companies and for ACIS. She is actively involved in the training of both PhD students and graduates and vocational training (FP) students. She is also a co-author of two patents entitled “Cell lines and their use for the identification of drugs for thyroid carcinoma” and “In vitro method for the diagnosis or prognosis of breast cancer.” She has published 84 articles in high-impact journals and 3 book chapters..
